Sam Petrucci is a Managing Director of Neuberger Berman in the Private Wealth Management division, based in New York. He is the Head of Advice, Planning & Fiduciary Services, which is comprised of in-house tax, trust and estate attorneys, certified financial planners, certified public accountants and fiduciary specialists. Together, they advise clients in areas such as estate planning, tax planning, life insurance, philanthropy and wealth education. In addition, they cater to the estate and trust administration needs of wealthy families through Neuberger Berman Trust Company N.A. Sam previously spent 5 years at Deutsche Bank, where he was Global Head of Wealth Planning and Chairman of the Trust Company. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at Credit Suisse as Head of the Wealth Planning Group, which he co-founded. Sam is nationally recognized having been featured/quoted in leading publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times. The comprehensive suite of advisory solutions he has developed make him an innovator in his field. He has also lectured before numerous professional organizations and written extensively on wealth planning. He holds a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, J.D. from Widener University School of Law and LL.M in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law.
David Herrmann, Chief Fiduciary Officer, Head of Personal Trust, Delaware
David L. Herrmann, Senior Vice President, joined the firm in 2005. He is currently Chief Fiduciary Officer and Head of Personal Trust. Previously, Dave was a partner in the trusts and estates department of the law firm Archer & Greiner, P.C. He has over 23 years of experience, specializing in complex estate planning and estate and trust administration. He has also represented clients in estate and trust litigation, including those engaged in audits and appeals with the Internal Revenue Service. Dave has authored articles published by Estate Planning, The Monthly Digest of Tax Articles, and the New Jersey State Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section Newsletter, and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal. He received a BS in Accounting from Rider College, and earned a JD cum laude from Widener University School of Law. Dave also holds an LLM in Taxation from Villanova University.
Elizabeth M. Sommer, Chief Fiduciary Officer, Head of Personal Trust, New York
Elizabeth M. Sommer, Senior Vice President, joined the firm in 1999. She is the Chief Fiduciary Officer and Head of Personal Trust for Neuberger Berman Trust Company N.A. Elizabeth has over 30 years of legal experience, specializing in estate planning and federal and state gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. Prior to joining the firm, she was counsel at Reboul MacMurray, Hewitt, Maynard & Kristol (now known as Ropes and Gray) managing its Personal Affairs group. Previously, she was an associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman & Colin. Elizabeth’s broad range of experience has included succession planning with closely held businesses; charitable gift planning working with both individuals and institutions, including establishing and counseling private foundations; retirement and qualified benefit planning; planning for non-resident aliens; advising fiduciaries on trust and estate administration issues; purchasing and selling residential real estate; and preparation of matrimonial agreements. Elizabeth has lectured at various institutions on estate planning and tax matters. She is a member of the American Bankers Association Trust Tax Committee. She received her AB magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University and a JD from New York University School of Law.
Edward L. Berman, Head of Institutional Trust
Edward L. Berman, Senior Vice President, joined the firm in 2001. He heads the Institutional Fiduciary Services business for Neuberger Berman Trust Company N.A. (“NBTC”), and has managed the launch and growth of the Trust OCIO and CIT businesses. Ed is Chairperson of NBTC’s ERISA Committee which supervises all aspects of fiduciary activities related to ERISA accounts, and a member of NBTC’s Operations Committee which oversees all Trust Company business and fiduciary functions. Prior to joining the firm, Ed spent over 14 years at JP Morgan Chase, where he was responsible for a team of relationship and client service professionals servicing institutional pension, public fund and endowment and foundation clients with assets in excess of $250 billion. He has significant experience managing the delivery of complex investment, trust, global custody and defined contribution services, and in providing customized solutions to meet the needs of sophisticated investors. Before joining Chase, Ed held positions with Bankers Trust Company and the IBM Corporation. Ed received a BS from the University at Buffalo and an MS (MBA) from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
