London, September 25, 2013 — Neuberger Berman, one of the world's leading employee controlled asset managers, today announced the launch of the Neuberger Berman Global Bond Absolute Return Fund, a sub–fund of its Irish–domiciled UCITS fund umbrella, Neuberger Berman Investment Funds plc. The fund launched with assets of $42 million.

The Fund is co–managed by London based Portfolio Manager Jon Jonsson and Chicago–based portfolio manager Andy Johnson. Andy Johnson is the Head of Investment Grade fixed income and has been with the firm for 23 years. Jon Jonsson is a Senior Portfolio Manager for the firm's Global Fixed Income strategies and joined Neuberger Berman in August 2013 from JP Morgan Asset Management.

The fund has an absolute return objective and aims to generate an annual return 4% above cash over a medium to long term investment horizon. The portfolio managers utilize a timetested, proprietary framework ("State–Space Analysis") that combines multiple alpha sources generated across the wider NB fixed income platform. This fundamentally driven approach is designed to avoid persistent macro or thematic biases in the portfolio and targets a low beta to fixed income markets over a full market cycle. This process is currently deployed in the management of both benchmark relative and unconstrained strategies in the US.

Dik van Lomwel, Head of Neuberger Berman EMEA and LatAm, said; "In common with previous Neuberger Berman product launches, we worked closely with clients to develop this strategy, in this case addressing the increasing demand for absolute return fixed income. With the recent addition of Jon we feel fortunate to have such an experienced fixed income team to run this fund."

Mr. Jonsson stated "We believe Neuberger Berman is in a unique position to launch this type of strategy, as we have specialist sector teams covering the full breadth of the fixed income universe and a proven process for allocating risk between these sectors."
